Welcome to the Scobee Library
Dial-A-Story
We are excited to share a wonderful new initiative from our Library Services team...Dial-A-Story! By calling 830-355-6455, families can enjoy a short story read aloud each week in English or Spanish. It’s a fun and easy way to make reading part of everyday life, whether you’re at home, in the car, or winding down for the evening.
Teachers can also bring Dial-A-Story into their classrooms as a quick, engaging read-aloud or listening activity to spark discussion and inspire a love of stories. This is another creative example of how Southwest ISD continues to make literacy accessible, joyful, and community-wide.

Library Displays
During the month of March, we celebrate Women's History Month and National Reading Month. To expose students to a variety of text formats, our Genre of the Month is short stories.

Members of the Scobee Book Club spent a Saturday the best way we know how -- surrounded by stories, stacks, and superstar authors at Library Palooza. Alongside Mrs. Iltis and members of the Dragon Book Club, our readers met authors Huda Fahmy, L.M Elliot, Chloe Gong, E. Lockhart, Scott Reintgen, and Samantha Van Leer.

Our Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who shopped or visited during our community events. Each purchase will go toward supporting literacy here at Scobee.

Book Club participated in a Live Q&A with author Lynne Kelly! SWISD Library Services purchased a copy of her newest book, Three Blue Hearts, for each Book Club Member.

Congratulations to our Storybook Pumpkin Contest winners!

Book Club kicked off their first meeting on September 23! Their goals this year are for each grade level to compete in the 90-Second Newbery Award Video Contest and to promote bookish events all school year.

New York Times #1 bestselling author and SWHS class of 1999 graduate, Shea Serrano, visited with some of our 8th grade Tigers!

Congratulations to Madalyn Hernandez and Ana Juarez for completing the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge!
